What does OSHA recommend for holiday safety at work?
OSHA recommends employers review safety information during this busy period. Examples include safety procedures when navigating warehouses, including forklift safety and general lifting guidelines.
Many employees will also need to navigate poor weather conditions during their job duties during the holiday season. Employers that require workers to conduct their jobs in these conditions must take steps to control these hazards and protect their workers from weather related injuries. This can include use of de-icer and snow removal to reduce the risk of slips, as well as possibly snow chains.
What about seasonal workers?
Even workers that are taking on temporary positions have rights. Those who are taking on a short-term position still have the right to a safe working environment.
Those who are injured while on-the-job should receive funds to cover the costs connected with the injury through a workers’ compensation claim. Remedies are available in the event an employer or workers’ compensation coverage insurance provider fails to provide a sufficient funds or denies the claim.
